Donuts Slot

Donuts Slot (Big Time Gaming): Overview

The Donuts slot was first announced during the ICE conference in London early this year and nothing more was heard about until now. We’re a bit surprised to see so many slots being rolled out by Big Time Gaming in such a short amount of time, something that is a bit uncharacteristic of them. We don’t mind however as we usually enjoy playing their slots, but worry a bit it might affect the “hand built” sense of quality of their games.

The free spins game

Donuts slot is a 4-reel4-row slot with up to 2401 ways in the main game. It has a 96.54% RTP and is playable on all devices from €0.05 to €12.50. The first thing that crossed our minds when starting up the slot was the cartoon series The Simpsons. Maybe because Donuts are strongly associated with Homer Simpsons, or it could be the general look of the slot with the yellow and red logo along with the cartoonish visuals.

Behind the Jukebox shaped reelset is a backdrop with an image of a desert highway and a busy Donut Diner in the middle of nowhere. The slot has a 50’s diner theme with a feelgood atmosphere to it.

Donuts slot makes use of 6 low paying symbols and 4 premiums. The low paying symbols are represented by the typically designed 9, 10, J, Q, K and A letters, while the premiums are represented by green, blue, red and purple donuts, with the purple one (as usual) being the top symbol and awarding a 15x win if you land 4 of a kind. The low value symbols only pay if you manage to land 4 of a kind and are worth next to nothing on this slot.

The Wild symbol comes in the form of a Jukebox and appear on reels 2 and 4 only. The Scatter symbol is represented by a Golden Donut and makes the same heavy sound when it drops as on all the other BTG slots.

But wait, there’s more. There are also Donut Boxes with hidden surprises. These can reveal up to 4 Donut symbols (which extends the paylines) or a wild with a multiplier from x2 to x4.

Donuts Slot (Big Time Gaming): Features

There is no Feature Drop available here so you’re left with no choice but to chase the bonus organically –  3 or 4 Gold Donut scatters anywhere on the reels triggers the Bonus round, giving you 12 or 20 free spins respectively. The bonus round is a separate thing from the actual free spins mode that follows directly after the bonus round. Let us explain…

During the bonus round, 16 individual 1×1 reels are displayed, each of which can reveal either a blank result or a Gold Donut Scatter symbol on each spin. The bonus round starts with 3 spins and each Scatter landing on the reels increases the free spins multiplier between 1 and 50. When a Scatter symbol lands it also resets the spins back to the starting number of 3 and the round continues.

The free spins game is initiated when there are either 3 dead spins in a row or when the Scatter symbols have filled all the 1×1 reels. The sum of the multiplier collected in the bonus game is applied to all wins during the free spins, which means one can start with a multiplier of 80, just to take an example. 2, 3 or 4 Gold Donut scatters retriggers the free spins game and award 10, 20 or 30 extra free spins respectively. The retriggers also initiate the bonus round once again where more multipliers can be awarded.

The characteristic slow spinning heart stopper effect that you’ve likely seen on Dragon Born and White Rabbit occurs in this game too when a good line-hit is about to drop.
