Jingle Spin (NetEnt): Introduction
With the NetEnt slots coming at us in rapid succession, there is no time to rest. Just like the freaky looking steampunk Santa starring in this slot, and his even creepier looking helpers, we have to get straight to work. Upon ripping the Christmas present open, something immediately seemed very familiar to us. For those of you who have been around for a few years, the mechanics of this game is a dead giveaway.
To confirm our theory, we put the two games side by side, and sure enough, there was no doubt left in our minds seeing the similarities in the paytables. Pay lines, max wins, and RTP, all identical. The ‘other’ slot that we’re talking about, in case you haven’t figured it out yet, is an old classic called EggOMatic which was released back in 2013.
For those of us who were looking forward to an original release it’s undoubtedly a letdown, but for newcomers, Jingle Spin is an opportunity to introduce them to an ancient world. We can’t say that we agree with anyone claiming EggOMatic to be one of the best NetEnt slots (maybe it was back in its heydays), but it’s most definitely considered a classic that is still being played to this day. Admittedly, playing it again turned out to be quite fun and reminded us to try some older games now and then during our sessions.
Jingle Spin is a 5-reel, 3-row video slot with 20 pay lines and a 96.48% RTP. Playable on all devices, players can bet between €0.20 and €200 per spin. It comes with a type of in-game wheel that with each individual spin may or may not add rewards on top of the reels. These rewards, here known as Baubles, walk across the reel set until they drop off on the 5th spin of its life cycle. The Baubles, which can contain a cash prize, wilds, mystery wins, and free spins, are triggered when a wild symbol appears randomly below.
There are several components involved that makes it so surprisingly entertaining still to this day despite its relatively low potential. First, you have the standard reel set to keep your eye on. Then there’s the wheel and the question whether it will land on a Bauble or not, and if so, which Bauble. When activated (which happens frequently), you get to follow the progress of the walking award while hoping for a wild to align. The result is a busy and captivating game.
Visually, it’s a nice alternative to the classic version known for its 50s era setting with tired robotic factory line chickens. Jingle Spin features peculiar cartoon style graphics with a Christmas decorated window serving as the backdrop. A chirpy jingle is played along with the cacophony of the helpers as well as other subtle sound effects that gives the slot life.
Jingle Spin (NetEnt): Symbols & Paytable
In Jingle Spin you will find a setup of 10 standard symbols of which 5 are low-value symbols represented by 10, J, Q, K and A card suit symbols. The 5 premiums come in the form of various ornaments such as pine cones, reindeers, colourful rings, decorated citrus fruits, and Christmas balls, the latter being the most valuable giving you 10 times the stake for 5 of a kind.
But it’s not the regular symbols by themselves that are of most interest in the main game as individual awards on the wheel can bring prizes of up to 125 times the stake. A combination of Baubles and the standard symbols on the reel set may also come together to comprise decent wins. Overall, however, the main game does not really offer much potential, so it all comes down to the free spins feature.
Jingle Spin (NetEnt): Free Spins
A free spin bauble held by Santa’s helpers directly above a wild symbol triggers 7, 10, 12, 15, 20, 25, 30 or 50 free spins depending on the value displayed on the particular bauble. In the free spins feature, players benefit from guaranteed baubles on the reels, which means you will always have awards walking across all 5 reels. The game is known to re-trigger quite frequently, but don’t expect massive wins even if you land as many as 60+ spins as we’ve seen in various casino streams over the years.
Jingle Spin has a max win potential of 1000 times the stake in the bonus and is capped at €10,000, so it’s most certainly not able to generate any life-changing wins but is often a good companion when some wagering needs to be done.
