Robin of Sherwood Slot: Introduction
We had no idea there was a Robin of Sherwood slot coming, let alone one that was ready for launch! It was, however, the Microgaming logo on the loading screen that caught our attention. Microgaming has been letting smaller, lesser known studios do all the work for them lately which has been nothing but let down after let down, unfortunately. Robin of Sherwood is advertised as a Microgaming production, but is in reality a slot produced by a company called Rabcat.
Robin of Sherwood is a 5-reel, 3-row video slot with 243 ways and can be played from €0.20 to €40. The game is obviously based on the classic story and legend of Robin Hood, a heroic outlaw, and skilled archer. In the English folklore, Robin Hood is said to have robbed the rich and given to the poor, but in this game, it appears to be the other way around.
Robin of Sherwood is a low potential game with quite uninspiring payouts, as you will see in the paytable. There are 4 low-value symbols worth next to nothing and 5 premium symbols represented by the various characters known from the tails of Robin Hood. Included in the game is also a Wild symbol and a Scatter symbol. The top premium (Friar Tuck) is worth the same as the Wild, awarding a 50x win for 5 across a payline.
Robin of Sherwood Slot: Features
The Wild Turning feature is randomly triggered and can appear on any number of reels. When triggered, all Royal Symbols (Jack, Queen, King, Ace), on a randomly selected reel, will be converted into Wild symbols before wins are evaluated. This feature is only available in the main game and is quite useless.
3 or more scatter symbols anywhere on the reels award 10 free spins and cannot retrigger. During the free spins, the Royal Clearing feature is activated which increases the chance of winning by eliminating the lowest remaining symbols after every 2nd free spin. This means that towards the end of the round, players will get 2 spins with all low-value symbols removed.
