Vegas Diamonds Introduction
For some reason only known to ELK Studios, they decided it would be a good move to develop yet another slot in their suit of ‘innovative’ Mobile First 3 reel slots. Sure, the two first instalments Ivanhoe and Route 777 were both decent games that were somewhat popularised and embraced by a few of the casino streamers. In our view, however, we failed to recognise the greatness. The classic 3 by 3 setup is admittedly fun every now and then, and we’re sure some players love it, but looking at what’s in demand right now the setup is hopelessly outdated.
According to ELK, Vegas Diamonds is promised to be far more modern compared to its sister slots while also staying true to its traditions. Being limited by its 3×3 setup, it must undoubtedly have been a challenge to avoid ending up with something that would be perceived as fundamentally tantamount. So how does Vegas Diamonds stand up against it’s predecessors? That’s what we’re going to find out.
This ELK Studios powered slot comes with 3 reels, 3 rows and 5 pay lines. Although working perfectly fine on all devices, it’s been specifically optimised for mobile phones as part of the studio’s strategy develop games for new devices. The 96% RTP is somewhat lower than the 96.3% setting found in the other two games, and so is the hit frequency (14.4% compared to 16%).
Visually, the game makes quite an impression, and we were pleasantly surprised by its ability to convey the vivid atmosphere of Las Vegas. While the colourful Vegas backdrop is static, the animations played above the reel set is a nice addition that, along with the crowd murmur performed when idle, helps to enhance the overall sense of being in the heart of the gambling capital of the world.
Vegas Diamonds Symbols, Paytable & Features
Symbols on the reels include low-value cherries, lemons and watermelons competing for space against three high paying single, double and triple Bar symbols, as well as the diamond symbol which is worth 30 times the stake for 3 across a pay line.
Multiplier wilds play a central role in the game. All the wilds include a multiplier of 2x, 3x, 4x or 5x. The wilds only appear on reels 1 and 3, making it impossible to land a wild line, but can nonetheless line up to form quite decent wins in the main game.
Two features are included in the main game:
- Nudge Feature – Should you land three diamond symbols anywhere in view, the nudge feature will come into play to get all three diamonds aligned on the middle row.
- Perfect Match Respin – Is triggered when identical symbols land on the first two reels. The two first reels are then locked into place while 3 respins are played out on the third reel which has potential to result in winning combinations on all spins, or triggering the bonus if two bonus symbols are locked on the first two reels. If lucky, the Perfect Match Repsins might retrigger the nudge feature three times.
Vegas Diamonds Fortune Wheel Bonus
A combination of three fortune wheel symbols anywhere on the reels triggers the Fortune Wheel with 3 spins. A wheel will appear on the animation screen above the reel set that consists of three levels – Bronze, Silver and Golden Wheel with increasing win amounts. To level up to the next wheel, players have to hope for the wheel to stop on the arrow symbol. Should you get all the way to the Golden Wheel, you will be faced with the chance to land the 1000 times the stake top award.
It’s also possible to initiate a free spins feature should the wheel stop on the free spins section. If so happens, 5 free spins on the reels are awarded with a chance to collect additional bonus symbols, which in turn award additional spins on the fortune wheel. Moreover, all wins in the free spins game comes with a x5 multiplier guaranteed.
